Commercial-scale agroforestry at North Farm in Spring Green

Located directly north of the Wisconsin River in Spring Green, Savanna Institute’s North Farm is used for research and demonstration of large-scale commercial tree crop production. Established in 2020, the farm now includes alley cropping with hybrid hazelnuts and vegetables, silvopasture by addition and reduction managed with sheep and cattle, chestnuts, persimmons, currants, and willow, forest farming, oak savanna restoration, and more.
